One Sketch a Day Challenge

There’s nothing quite like starting a new month with a new challenge. I’m dedicating October 2022 to drawing one sketch a day. I’m inviting you to join as well. I would love to see your daily sketches!

What is a sketch? Typically in art a sketch is a quick, informal or rough drawing that doesn’t have many details. A sketch can show your creative process and thus It can be used as a preliminary study or draft for a final piece. A sketch can be an observation drawing from life, or it could be a memory or a doodle. It can be used to hash out ideas or spark your creativity. Or it can be used to document a special moment in time. Sketching improves your drawing skills, and it allows you to practice and draw freely. There’s no limit, no expectation and no imitation involved. Those are some great benefits if you ask me.

I find that sketching is an integral part of my art lifestyle. I enjoy sketching portraits, landscapes, doodles, and feel good art. I’m used to sketching as part of my design process as well, even for film or video ideas. I fondly remember going on art adventures to parks and drawing whatever I see or feel. Some of my best memories include going to cool parts of the city and sketching with my friends.

These days I find myself really busy so I’m taking on the One Sketch a Day Challenge to get back into my art journey. Hopefully I can make it last a lifetime.

Whether you’re a beginner or expert artist, I encourage you to sketch daily as well. It will be worth it to see how much you have improved. What do you like to sketch? What are you looking forward to? Let me know in the comments below!

Stay blessed,
Kristel
